Wombwell High Street has been closed following a serious assault on a man on Tuesday night.
Officers are at the scene carrying out investigations. A statement was released on Wednesday morning saying: "Police are investigating what looks like a serious assault that happened around 9pm last night in High Street, Wombwell.
"A man in his early 40s is in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield with head injuries."
