Twenty families in Kendray have been sent warning letters about their kids' antisocial behaviour.
The Kendray and Worsbrough Safer Neighbourhood Team was asked to look in to increasing nuisance on Reginald Road after concerns were raised by residents at a PACT - police and communities together - meeting last month.
Officers have sent 20 letters to parents, warning them to curb their kids' bad behaviour.
Two have also been placed on acceptable behaviour contracts and five others have been sent to alcohol awareness sessions. Any breach of the agreement will be monitored by police and may form the first part of an asbo application.
The SNT has also been working with an antisocial behaviour team at Barnsley Council who will begin tenancy enforcement against some of those families involved.
A spokesman for Kendray and Worsbrough SNT said: "The alcohol awareness session is part of the Barnsley Community Alcohol Partnership.
"It's where youths who have been found in possession of alcohol on the street are referred to a meeting that takes place for about two hours in the evening and one of their parents accompanies them as well.
"The parents and youths are then given information about the risks and problems associated with young people drinking on the street."
