A SPIRITUAL healing group is being launched for women in Barnsley town centre.
Women’s Unity is designed to provide spiritual and holistic therapy for local women and will take place at the Library @ the Lightbox.
Leanne Greaves, the founder of Women’s Unity, is a qualified forensic psychologist and also a member of the British Psychological Society.
She has set up the group, alongside friends Tracey Atkinson and Emma Wroe.
She told the Chronicle: ”While I was volunteering at MAT charity and working for the NHS GoodSAM service I realised that there was very scarce services for women.
“There’s help if you pay for it and post-help but nothing really in the moment.
“While working and doing my degree I realised this lack of help and that we needed to find that group in the here and now for women in Barnsley.”
Leanne’s intention is to turn participants’ ‘pain into power’, through a six-week programme which encompasses different spiritual and holistic experiences, such as yoga and meditation.
The group is free to attend, something Leanne prides the group on, with holistic groups regularly charging for attendance.
Leanne has also been able to draw on personal experiences, both as a wife and as a psychologist, to produce this programme.
She added: “During my marriage I worked on this programme for myself, I had to get it in order to work through my trauma.
“So the programme comes from my trauma from being in a marriage, so each step in my recovery is put forward as part of this.”
