At Barnsley FC Community Trust, we know the power of sport and community to change lives.

Every season, we engage with 10,000 to 15,000 people across Barnsley – supporting young children, older adults, and everyone in between.

Whether it’s improving health and wellbeing, supporting people into education and employment, or building inclusive communities, our work is focused on making a lasting impact. In fact, last season alone, we generated over £16.161 million in social value.

That’s why I’m thrilled to invite you to the Barnsley FC Community Trust Conference, taking place on June 9, 2025 at Oakwell Stadium.

This is more than just an event – it’s a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and discover how, together, we can create stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities.

Through a packed day of inspiring sessions, we’ll showcase the work we do every day across Barnsley – and explore how we can collaborate with local partners, businesses, and community groups to drive even greater impact.

Here’s what to expect:

– Insight into how our programmes are changing lives across Barnsley.

We’re also delighted to welcome two distinguished guest speakers who are true champions of community development. Councillor Sir Steve Houghton CBE, leader of Barnsley Council since 1996, has devoted his career to public service. A former chair of the government’s review into long-term unemployment (the Houghton Review), Sir Steve holds a Masters in local governance and was knighted in 2013 for services to local government.

Debbie Cook, director of community at the English Football League (EFL), brings decades of experience in both football and public service.

As a former chief executive of Grimsby Town FC and a passionate advocate for the role football clubs play in society, Debbie is at the heart of the EFL’s work to improve lives through its 72 club charities.

This is your chance to be part of something bigger.

Whether you’re a local business, a community leader, or someone who cares deeply about our town, we’d love to see you there. Let’s come together to raise aspirations, enhance lives, and build a brighter future for Barnsley.
