A MAPPLEWELL swimming school has raised almost £1,500 for Barnsley Hospital Charity’s Breast Care Appeal.
The appeal will transform the vital Breast Care Unit where more 7,000 patients a year get expert care for everything from lumps to cancer.
The money raised will help to create a soothing, private haven with state-of-the-art facilities to support patients at their toughest moments.
From prosthetics to biopsies, every detail will focus on dignity and healing.
The swim gala took place at Sprint Swim Academy in Mapplewell.
Each participant who took part in the Swim Gala were challenged to swim as many lengths as they could within their 30 minute swim session.
Collectively, there was a total distance of 8,580 metres (5.3 miles) achieved and this week the total of £1,460 was revealed.
Lynsey Rose, Sprint Swim Academy director, said “When we found out that the charity were reaching out to local businesses and communities to support with raising money for this cause, we did what we could to help and without our staff organising the event, loyal customers, their children, families and friends who all took part in this event.
“We are proud to shout out what everyone achieved, helping make such a difference.”
Jane Mills, charity development manager, said: “This was a fabulous effort from all of the team, staff, parents and children and we thank everyone involved for their fundraising efforts whilst also strengthening their swimming skills.”
