BARNSLEY AC’s under 17 woman Amelie Spicer was selected to represent Yorkshire at the Judith Temperton Northern Inter-County Championships held in York.

She ran 42.9 to finish fourth in her 300m race.

In the medley relay, Amelie ran a 200m leg as Yorkshire won the race in 4-05.23.

Yorkshire were the overall champions as well as winning every age category.

At the Mid Cheshire 5k, Barnsley AC’s Morgan Thompson set a PB of 15-39 while Keith Littlewood ran his best 5k time since 2022, finishing in 18-22.

Josh Bird (15-59) and Nathan Doy (16-24) also competed.

At the Edinburgh Marathon, Barnsley AC’s Mark Oxley ran a PB of 2-57-24.

Barnsley AC’s under 11 girl Anica Leake competed in match two of the South Yorkshire Track and Field Series held at Doncaster.

She finished 75m in 12.0, 150m in 24.2 and 3.22m in the long jump.

Ten junior Barnsley AC members competed in the second YADAL match in Division One. There were PBs for under 15 girls Joanna Adediran (200m, 29.70), Jessica Love (800m, 2-53.5) and Hollie Richardson (shot putt, 5.26m) plus under 15 boy Charley Marshall (100m, 13.00).

The first Silkstone Shuffle of the year took place last Thursday.

Penistone Footpath Runner George Parr was first across the 4.5-mile course in 28-29. Lois Lopez of Penistone was second woman overall and first over50 woman in a time of 39-15. Heather Simpson was third woman overall in 39-37. There was an age category win for Alan Knox (men over70).

Barnsley AC’s Chris McNicholas finished as first over60 man with a time of 32-39.

Dave Allemby finished in 51-34.

Last week saw the annual running of the Rother Valley Relays, drawing 270 teams from clubs across South Yorkshire.

Penistone Footpath Runners’ over40 team came fourth overall and first in their age category. The team consisted of Alan Nutton, Richard Cottam, Andrew Hepenstall and James Mumford.

Their time overall was 1-08-46.

The women’s over50 team took second in their category thanks to the efforts of Rachael Mayston, Lois Lopez and Nicola McAnally.

In the men’s over50 category, the Penistone team of Andrew Pearson, Martin Ball, Matt Robinson and Ian Neville secured third place.

Penistone’s youth male team of Edward Holley, Owen Moxon and Finn Pepper raced to second place in their category.

The senior women’s team of Suzanne McGill, Jade Crosby and Hannah Shaw were sixth.

Barnsley AC had ten teams competing. Their over50 women’s team took first place in their category, retaining the title from 2024.

The team comprising of Helen Morgan, Beth Massey and Kerry Storrar finished with an overall time of 1-04-03.

Helen also ran the third fastest over50 women’s time with 20-26.

Wayne Singleton’s time of 16-49 was the third fastest time on the over40 men’s teams.
