THREE men were arrested in Athersley South on Tuesday after officers executing a warrant found drugs, money and weapons - including a samurai sword, crossbow and imitation firearm.
On Tuesday morning, officers from Barnsley North’s Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted the warrant under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Around £7,000 worth of cannabis and £3,000 in cash was found, as well as an imitation firearm, crossbow, samurai sword and several machetes.
All three occupants have been released on bail while enquiries take place.
A police spokesperson said: “Organised crime and drug dealing have a wide range of deeply harmful effects on communities including increased violence and crime, damage to community wellbeing, health and addiction issues, economic consequences, and has an impact on youths and vulnerable persons who are targeted to deal for gangs.
“This work goes to show that neighbourhood teams are continuously gathering, monitoring and developing intelligence in communities and those involved in organised crime could be our next early morning knock.”
