A SCHOOL’s Herculean effort to raise cash for Sheffield Children’s Hospital has broken the £60,000 barrier after a near-decade fundraising campaign.
Penistone Grammar School’s leaders and pupils came together last week to present a cheque to the hospital, which has benefited from school-wide charity activities.
The funds were raised through a wide range of creative and community-driven initiatives including bake sales, Christmas fairs, fancy dress and non-uniform days, as well as sponsored runs.
A stand-out event was the 24-hour staff relay, which captured the imagination of the school and local community alike, drawing widespread participation and support.
“This achievement is a testament to the compassion, energy and commitment of our entire school community,” said Adam Gillett, associate vice principal and trustee of The Children’s Hospital Charity.
“We are incredibly proud to support such a vital institution that touches the lives of so many families across our region.
“The school looks forward to continuing its partnership with Sheffield Children’s Hospital, with more events and initiatives planned for the future.”
Penistone Grammar School’s relationship with Sheffield Children’s Hospital extends beyond fundraising.
The school is one of only two educational institutions represented on the Education Advisory Group, helping shape how the hospital engages with young people and schools.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to wellbeing, education and community impact.
A spokesperson from the hospital added: “We are so grateful for everything Penistone Grammar School have done for the charity.
“We have had the pleasure of working closely with them and their dedication and support is inspiring.”
