WHILE his Barnsley club-mates missed out on a trip to Wembley in the play-offs, loaned-out teenager Vimal Yoganathan is set to play at the national stadium on Sunday.
The 19-year-old midfielder has been one of Oldham Athletic’s star players in their run to the National League play-off final, in which they face Southend United – the final game of the English club season. A regular starter, he set up a goal in the 4-0 quarter-final win over Halifax Town then added another assist and a goal in a 3-0 win at York City in the semi-final.
Oldham are managed by former Reds coach Micky Mellon and have former Barnsley forward James Norwood.
Yoganathan’s summer of football could continue as he is then on the standby list for Wales under 21s.
Meanwhile, Kacper Lopata was not involved in Ross County’s two-legged SPL relegation play-off against Livingston. They drew the away game 1-1 on Thursday then lost 4-2 at home on Monday, having been 2-0 ahead.
Defender Lopata – who started 30 league games for County this season – is thought to have missed the end of the campaign due to injury.
He is still contracted to the Reds for whom he has played 17 games since signing in 2023.
