BARNSLEY College represented the town at a Hall of Fame celebration held by leading anti-racism charity Show Racism the Red Card at 10 Downing Street.
Lucy Evans, the college’s cultural capital and personal development coordinator, was personally invited to the reception, where charity founder, ex-footballer Shaka Hislop, and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, spoke on the importance of uniting to fight racism and discrimination.
Over the last year, the college delivered 20 anti-racism workshops which saw more than 3,000 students take part in a number of activities.
Lucy said: “It was a privilege to meet inspiring individuals from across different sectors, including many footballing legends and to be in the presence of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Show Racism the Red Card founder Shaka Hislop.
“I’m already looking forward to building on the incredible work we’ve started this academic year and continuing to drive meaningful change.”
