A LOCAL organisation that specialises in offering horse riding lessons for the disabled received a £250 cheque from a community group this week.
Barnsley Riding for the Disabled, based on Pontefract Road, support residents across the borough at their riding school.
Earlier this week they received a £250 cheque from the Dove Valley Events Group, who are helping to support similar groups and organisations in Barnsley.
Coun John Clarke is a member of the group and presented the money on Wednesday.
He said: “We were given a grant from the National Lottery a number of years ago but we have some money that’s been left over.
“We’re wanting to donate some money to organisations right across Barnsley.
“There’s only three members of the group left right now.
“We’re wanting the money to go to local groups who help local people.
“We’ve handed over £250 to Barnsley Riding for the Disabled and we’ll be donating £250 to each of the Worsbrough Guides and Brownies.
“We’ll also be donating £500 to Barnsley Youth Choir.”
