PENISTONE Gala came back strong last weekend after having to skip last year’s event.
It was postponed in 2024, partly due to a lack of volunteers, but this year’s organisers vowed that a ‘bigger and better’ show would return.
The work of people like volunteer Jill Goddard ensured that its return was a big hit in the town.
She said: “It was a really good show this year, it was also quite emotional actually, seeing it all come together.
“We received a lot of positive feedback from visiting people, and luckily we got no negative feedback at all.”
The gala went without its showpiece from British Army Parachutists The Red Devils, who had to call off their performance due to high winds.
Despite that, the event welcomed around 3,000 people, including local MP Marie Tidball and Mayor of Penistone Hannah Kitching.
Jill added: “There was a lot of interest from visitors this year, especially for some of themes and acts.
“There were plenty of people out on the field, even though the weather did let us down a little bit with some rain.
“I think the falconry exhibition had about 200 people in the arena at one point.
“We’ve already looked at booking in things for next year, we’ve been thinking about some potential acts as well.
“We’re hoping it can be even bigger than this year’s.”
