PENISTONE Grammar School enjoyed a great success at the Barnsley Schools Football Finals last month - winning three of the four finals they played in.

The finals, which took place at Oakwell on May 23, proved to be a success for the school, with three different age groups running out as winners.

The year eight boys, under 15 girls and year ten boys won their respective matches, while the under 13 girls fell short on penalties.

The u15 girls ran out 2-1 victors against Horizon, the year eight boys were 4-2 victors over Horizon and the u13 girls lost out to Horizon.

The pick of the games was the year ten boys’ 8-1 victory over Kirk Balk, which the school described as a ‘dominant display’.

Paul Crook, principal at the school, said: “I’m very proud of all students that take part in extra-curricular activities, especially the four teams and their managers.

“It is the first time we’ve played at Oakwell in 15 years, and it’s always great for students to play at such prestigious events.”
