BARNSLEY Council’s ruling cabinet members are set to accept more than £3m in funding to support residents at a meeting next week.
On Wednesday, cabinet will approved the funding of £1.5m for private sector housing from the Warm Homes Local Grant.
This grant will focus on installing energy efficiency measures for properties with low energy efficiency ratings that meet our criteria. ( Cabinet will also accept £1.59m for council housing to improve the energy efficiency of properties where the residents are deemed to be living in, or at risk of living in, fuel poverty.
Both these grants are to be used up to 2028 and will be split over a three year period.
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “We’re pleased to have been awarded funding for these schemes.
“We want all our residents to live in a safe, warm and sustainable home, and this funding will enable us to offer more support to those who need it.
“I’d encourage our residents to get in touch with our Warm Homes team for more information about other help and support currently available to them.”
