JON RUSSELL and Jamaica went out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup at the group stage on Tuesday evening.

They lost 4-1 to Panama in Austin, Texas to finish third in their group.

Having lost the opening game against Guatemala last week, they came from behind to beat Guadeloupe 2-1 on Friday night in San Jose, California – with Russell heading in the winner.

The Reds midfielder started all three games for Steve McClaren’s Reggae Boyz at the Gold Cup.

In total, he has played seven times for Jamaica this summer – two games at the Unity Cup in London, two World Cup qualifiers in the British Virgin Islands then Jamaica and the tournament in the USA. He scored three goals.

Russell is expected to have some time off before joining up with his Barnsley team-mates for pre-season.
