CAWTHORNE captain Archie Greaves is ‘unbelievably proud’ that his side have reached the halfway stage of the Yorkshire Premier South season within striking distance of top spot which he hopes they can fight for in the run-in.
Cawthorne are fourth, 14 points off top having won seven of their last nine league games following an opening day defeat to Doncaster Town who they visit next. They continued their fine form with a seven-wicket win over Hallam.
Greaves said: “Our win on Saturday was a great win all round and we did the job.
“Leading up to this game we’ve had a lot of ups this season and fortunately only a handful of downs which we have learnt from.
“We move on to Doncaster Town where we look to get revenge and Woodlands in the quarter-final of the Heavy Woollen Cup on Sunday.
“Two challenging games but I’m sure a great game will be had and we will get over the line.
“Our position in the league is something I’m unbelievably proud of and the hard work the lads have put in.
“It’s good to see an achievement of fourth place and only 14 points behind top.
“At halfway in the season we now know our opponents a lot better and, going into the second half of the season, it will be exciting stuff to see if we can compete for top position.”
