TWO GIRLS from Barnsley Tennis Club have played their way to Wimbledon.

Every year the Lawn Tennis Association hold the ‘Play your way to Wimbledon’ tournament, open to all juniors nationwide at more than 750 clubs.

The prize is playing a match at SW19 in August.

Entrants have to win a competition in their local areas to qualify for regional and county tournaments.

Barnsley’s Eleanor Kelsall-Yoward and Libby Wilson, along with two boys Finlay Nixon and Isaac Waters, got through to the final regional tournament in Hull.

The boys reached the under 18 final and narrowly lost to a pair from Ecclesall but the girls won to clinch their spot at the All-England Club.

Eleanor said: “The regional round in Hull had a tough final match with both sets going to a tie-break.

“It was really fun and we are both really excited to be playing at Wimbledon.”
