Davis Keillor-Dunn made it two goals in as many pre-season games with a late leveller in Barnsley’s 1-1 draw at sixth-tier Worksop Town on Saturday.

An error from new goalkeeper Murphy Cooper gifted the hosts the lead midway through the second half then substitute Keillor-Dunn replied with the visitors’ only shot on target.

With Adam Phillips out due to a minor injury, the Reds fielded a young side in the first half and were second best.

Very little happened in the opening 35 minutes, except two shots well over the bar from the edge of the box by Worksop players.

Young Reds striker Leo Farrell came off with an injury midway through the first half but, with the plan to give players only a certain amount of minutes, he was not replaced and the Reds played with ten men for the remainder of the half. Defender Tom Senior then came off with a cut to the head and was replaced by Connor Barratt.

Worksop had the first shot on target of the game, from the right of the box which was pushed away by Murphy Cooper, before the following corner was headed onto the crossbar from close range.

New signing Reyes Cleary came on at the break and he went on some good runs.

Worksop failed to test Cooper with a couple more long-range efforts, then a home player headed wide from close range after a clearance was charged down.

Vimal Yoganathan had Barnsley’s first real chance when, after a mix-up between the home goalkeeper and a defender, he shot just over from the edge of the box.

The hosts took the lead soon after when goalkeeper Cooper passed straight to Aleks Starcenko who found the empty net.

The Reds made a raft of changes in the few minutes before the goal.

Cooper made a brave block to deny a Worksop man one-on-one after a good move, then minutes later, it was 1-1 as Yoganathan slipped in Keillor-Dunn to beat the goalkeeper.
