COUNCILLORS have praised the addition of bollards in Monk Bretton following concern from local residents.

The ten bollards were placed on Tennyson Road after residents had complained about vehicles parking on the grass verges which were causing significant damage.

The funding for the bollards came from both the Fullhouse Estate Community Group and the Central Ward Alliance, with additional bollards funded directly by Barnsley Council.

Couns Janine Moyes, Martin O’Donoghue and Nicola Sumner recently paid a visit to inspect the new bollards.

Coun Moyes said: “What an excellent example of a community group pulling together to support the community, assisted by local Labour councillors and the local authority.

“Many thanks to all those who worked hard to make this possible.”
