Louise Jones, of Haverdale Rise, is up for Volunteer of the Year at this year's glittering ceremony.
She set up the Pippa Jones Little Treasure Trust after Pippa died a few days before her fourth birthday in March 2010.Louise has received several nominations from folk across Barnsley, including one from Ann Cross, of Wombwell.
Ann said Louise deserves the award for raising £80,000 through the Trust with activities such as coffee mornings and sponsored walks to provide activity bags for sick children and their siblings. "
The Trust now provides activity bags for children aged one to 12 and gift bags for teenagers who have cancer; treasure bags for the brothers and sisters of a child with cancer; financial assistance towards childcare costs; school uniforms; grants for research into childhood brain tumours and expenses where sick children and their families need to travel abroad for specialised treatment."
When your child becomes seriously ill with cancer, your world is turned upside down. "
As a parent you want to spend all your time with your ill child but if you have other children this isn't always possible. "Some families have grandparents and friends who can care for the ill child's brothers and sisters, but other families don't have this kind of support and the cost of childcare is expensive."
Louise works tirelessly to raise funds to provide all the things other charities don't provide."
Louise, who works as an accountant, said she was 'flattered' by her nominations and Pippa is 'the motivation behind it all'.
"It's a massive surprise and I am very flattered to have been nominated for the award, it's lovely.
"I just feel that I am the facilitator of the charity and I wouldn't be able to do what I do without all the help and support I have had from friends, local businesses and trustees of the charity."I think the charity is fantastic and it's amazing the amount that's been raised.
"I'm really proud because we have gone so much further beyond what we set out to raise which was £5,000 originally.
"I know what it is like for parents and that's why I really enjoy doing what I do. I love Barnsley and I am proud to be from here and I read the Chronicle every week."
The Proud of Barnsley Awards will be held on November 14, hosted by Barnsley actor Shaun Dooley.
