A BARNSLEY man has hit out at the council after collection crews failed to pick up his waste for FIVE months straight.

John Rudolph, 60, lives in Ardsley and has been having trouble with his bins since February.

There were widespread concerns across the borough over the lack of activity from crews - but this has improved in recent months.

But John says he still has no idea when his bins are going to be collected.

He told the Chronicle: “The grey bins and recycling bins haven’t been emptied since February.

“The blue bin was collected once last month but that’s it.

“There’s bags everywhere and it’s doing my head in.

“Rubbish is just going down the street now because the wildlife is getting into it.”

And despite the ongoing issues, John claims that council have been no help.

“I’ve tried to get in contact but they just don’t do anything,” he said.

“I’ve been nice, I’ve shouted - but no-one does anything.

“I don’t know what else we can do.”

Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “Following recent reports from the residents in the bungalows at Tyers Hall Farm, our crews have been out to visit the location and confirmed that bins will be emptied this week.

“I would like to extend an apology to the residents affected and assurance that steps have been taken to rectify this issue moving forwards.”
