PLANS to build six houses at a Penistone site which has seen SIX applications rejected by the council in the past are set to be approved - despite serious concerns from the local parish council.
An application was submitted to build the new houses west of Milstones in Oxspring earlier this year.
Although applications such as this would not usually be sent to the planning board, Coun Alex Burnett requested these plans to do so due to the controversy around them.
In the past, six similar applications have been rejected for houses at the same site - but this one is set to be approved.
Oxspring Parish Council have objected to the plans citing reasons such as harmful development, previous refusals and a failed flood risk assessment.
A number of residents have also raised concerns.
But at next Tuesday’s planning board, councillors have been recommended to approve the application.
A report states: “Various other issues have raised by members of the public, including concerns that granting this application might set a precedent for development of Oxspring Rocher, adjacent to the application site and in the applicant’s ownership.
“Having balanced all material planning considerations, whilst a number of objections have been received in respect to the proposal they have been suitably addressed.
“As a consequence, the positive aspects of the proposal outlined above are not outweighed by any other material planning considerations.”
