Barnsley FC chaplain Peter Amos will get closer to God on a fund-raising mission.
He is climbing Africa's highest peak Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, starting his trek tomorrow.
He suffered from the chronic fatigue condition myalgic encephalomyelitis and is hoping to raise mountains of cash for the ME charity.
Peter said: “I’m taking part in this climb because I want to see this terrible illness beaten. I’m paying for the trip myself, so all the sponsorship money goes to the charity.
"It’s a tremendous challenge, but one that I’m looking forward to."
He is minister at Bentley Baptist Church as well as chaplain of Barnsley football club and has been backed by Labour Party leader Ed Miliband, who is the constituency MP for Bentley.
