NATHAN Perks scored four goals but Athersley Rec lost 5-4 at home to Maltby Main in the NCEL League Cup on Tuesday.
The visitors went 2-0 up but Perks’ first half hat-trick put the Penguins 3-2 ahead.
Maltby levelled just before half-time then, after Perks struck again from the penalty spot, they equalised at 4-4.
Charlie Auty’s own goal in injury-time saw Athersley knocked out of the cup.
They are now due to visit Winterton Rangers on Saturday before hosting Goole on Tuesday, both in the league.
