A BIG-NAME supermarket has been taken to court by Barnsley Council over a raft of issues relating to out-of-date food being sold to the public.
The Chronicle can reveal the local authority’s Trading Standards officers opted to take action against Asda following spot-checks at its branches on Old Mill Lane near the town centre and Thomas Street, Worsbrough.
According to court documents, multiple food items at both locations were found to be available for sale despite having expired sell-by dates.
The case will be heard at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on September 4.
