CELEBRATIONS were in order at Penistone Grammar School on Thursday after five students secured their places at the University of Oxford or Cambridge.

A total of 95 per cent of students received their university place of choice, with around half of those set to attend prestigious Russell Group universities.

Particular congratulations go to the following students, all of whom achieved the top grades in all subjects and have secured places on highly competitive courses.

Oliver Brook (A*A*AB), Sophie Broomhead (A*AA), Katie Charlesworth (A*AA), Robbie Cooper (A*A*A*A*), Harry Crowe (A*A*A*A*), Will Farrell (A*A*AB), Ava Hardwick (A*A*A*), Tom Hilton (A*A*A*A*), Lisa-Mari Humphreys (A*AA), Samson Horner (A*A*AB), Dan Openshaw (A*A*AA), Marko Perunovic (A*A*AA), Jacob Sammon (A*A*A*), Ella Sayles (AAB) and Oliver Thomas (A*A*A).

Principal Paul Crook said: “Our students are amazing and have dedicated an enormous amount of time towards their studies.

“These results are a testament to their dedication, hard work and commitment.

“We are particularly proud of the five students - Jacob Sammon, Robbie Cooper, Harry Crowe, Ava Hardwick and Marko Perunovic - who successfully navigated the rigorous application and interview process for Oxford and Cambridge, secured their offers, and achieved the exceptional grades needed to take up their places on some of the most competitive courses in the country.
