MORE than 22,000 players covered 115,000 miles in this year’s Beat the Street scheme.
This is the third time the six-week community-wide walking, cycling and running challenge was hosted across the borough.
It is co-ordinated by the sport and physical activity team at Barnsley Council as part of their ongoing work to encourage children and adults in the town to move more.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “It’s been great to see so many Barnsley residents take part in Beat the Street across our borough once again.
“I’d like to say a huge congratulations to all our winners and to everyone who has taken part in this fantastic initiative.
“The winners will receive their certificates over the coming weeks, and players will receive a survey to measure the impact of the game.”
A full list of winners can be found on the council’s website.
