ROOFER Danny Smith’s love for his hometown has shone through with his latest work - after he placed a kestrel on a chimney in Hoyland.
The 43-year-old, originally of Racecommon Road but now living in Wath, has deep admiration for the film Kes - so much so that he’s placed the bird on a project he’s currently working at.
He thinks it might be a one-of-a-kind piece of work - and he’s hoping that Dai Bradley himself will love it just as much as he does.
It’s the second piece of work commemorating the classic Barnsley film in a month, after Tony Lees commissioned a mural of Dai on a wall outside the Victoria Garage in Cudworth.
And Danny is hoping his nod to the film will impress the beloved actor, too.
He told the Chronicle: “I love Barnsley and I love Kes.
“It’s a brilliant film.
“To me, Barnsley is even better in Barbados.
“So I wanted to do something like this because I don’t think it’s been done before.
“It’s something different.
“I’d love it if Dai Bradley was able to come down and have a look.”
