BARNSLEY actress Katherine Kelly relaunched a group at the Lamproom Theatre on Sunday which hopes to inspire the next generation of stars.
The Lamproom Youth Theatre Ensemble (LYTE) is the oldest group at the theatre having first been launched in 1923 under the guise of ‘Barnsley Children’s Choral Society’.
Around 50 young performers, aged between five and 16, attended the inaugural meeting of the group on Sunday and their first show ‘Into The SpotLYTE’ is set to open on October 3.
Katherine Kelly welcomed the new members to the theatre and plans to be involved with their development.
She took her first stage steps in Barnsley when she appeared in the Globe Theatre production of ‘Annie’ back in the eighties.
Katherine is a dedicated patron of LYTEs.
