A LEEDS man has been charged with rape in relation to an incident involving two young girls in Barnsley last month.

Choman Sameen, 19, of Roundhay, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court last Friday having being charged with rape and sexual activity.

Sameen is charged with two counts of rape of a girl aged 13 to 15 and two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.

This relates to an incident involving two victims on August 20 in Barnsley.

He has been remanded into custody and will next appear at Sheffield Crown Court on September 26.

Superintendent Mark James said: “I understand that members of the community will be deeply concerned by this incident and we have worked at pace to secure these charges.

“We are working closely with our partners to ensure that support and safeguarding measures are in place for the victims.”
