A round-up of some stories coming out of Barnsley FC this week.

BLACKPOOL TRIP UP NEXT

Barnsley will play their first away game in almost a month when they visit Blackpool from 12.30pm on Saturday.

The Reds are third in League One with 16 points from seven games while Blackpool are second-bottom with four from seven.

The Tangerines’ boss is Steve Bruce who signed Reds head coach Conor Hourihane from Barnsley when Aston Villa manager in 2017.

Blackpool have won six of their last seven meetings with the Reds including a 3-0 success at Oakwell in March which saw Darrell Clarke sacked and replaced by Hourihane.

After the trip to the seaside, Barnsley host Premier League Brighton in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

MIXED RESULTS FOR ACADEMY TEAMS AGAINST WATFORD

Barnsley under 21s lost 3-0 at home to Watford on Tuesday of this week.

The visitors took the lead from a set piece after half an hour then doubled it just after the break due to a mistake by goalkeeper Kieren Flavell. Watford scored again from a long throw late on.

Kelechi Nwakali – who has not left yet amid attempts to find him a new club – and Reyes Cleary played for the Reds.

The under 21s are due to host Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.

Barnsley under 18s won 2-0 at Watford on Saturday.

Feyi Afuape and Chrysolite Ogbu scored.

They now host Bristol City on Saturday from 11am.

DALLAS SCORES AGAIN WITH YOUNG DUO LOANED OUT

Barnsley loanee Andy Dallas made it four goals in as many games with a late equaliser for Southend United in the National League.

Visitors Boston United took the lead on 81 minutes but Dallas levelled on 84.

Barnsley under 21s Tom Senior and Aston Ellard have joined Guiseley AFC and Stocksbridge Park Steels respectively on month-long loan deals.

The Reds have signed teenage midfielder Stanley Holder who had been on trial after a spell with AFC Fylde.
