A BARNSLEY care home has been rated as ‘outstanding’ following its latest Care Quality Commission inspection.
Deangate Care Home, based on Towngate, Mapplewell, received the highest rating from the care watchdog - and was heavily praised by inspectors.
They highlighted its ‘exemplary care’ and described how staff go ‘above and beyond’ to help residents achieve personal goals - including supporting one person to walk again after a fall.
Rachael Dawson, home manager at Deangate Care Home, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this outstanding rating.
“It’s a reflection of the dedication and compassion our team brings every day.
“We’re proud to create a home where residents feel valued, supported and inspired to live life to the fullest.”
A special celebration event, attended by Mayor of Barnsley Coun Dave Leech and local councillors, was held on Wednesday.
Coun Dickie Denton, who was in attendance, added: “On behalf of the Darton East community I wish to extend my thanks and congratulations to all the management and staff at Deangate for this fantastic achievement.
“Having experienced at first hand the devastating impact that dementia can have on individuals and families I realise the immense value of the quality of care.
“Thanks to the dedication, care and professionalism of the staff at Deangate, we can be assured that we have one of the very best care providers in the area on our doorstop.”
