LOCAL councillors have celebrated youngsters’ reading achievements.
Children who completed this year’s Summer Reading Challenge have received certificates, medals and prizes in an exciting awards ceremony.
Certificates were presented to the young people by Wombwell councillors James Higginbottom and Robert Frost.
The ceremony was held in Wombwell Children’s Library with a total of 32 young people having completed this year’s challenge.
Their achievements were celebrated by parents and library staff who were also in attendance.
The councillors commented: “We had the huge pleasure of presenting certificates to all those who have completed the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge at Wombwell Library.
“It was wonderful to see so many young people getting involved in the challenge and setting themselves up for a lifetime of learning and imagination in doing so.
“Massive thanks to all of the team at the library for organising and congratulations to all those who completed the challenge.”
