AN EXCLUSIVE launch of Ronnie Steele’s latest book ‘Ken Loach and Kes’ will be held at the Parkway Cinema tomorrow - and those in attendance will be given a first look at Graham Ibbeson’s latest work.
Ronnie said he was inspired to create the book having been diagnosed with cancer, and wanting to leave a legacy for his former teachers Barry Hines and Brian Glover.
The book features a total of 47 stories from 44 different writers including David Bradley, Milly Johnson, Ian Clayton, Graham Ibbeson and John Godber.
Acclaimed ‘Kes’ director, Ken Loach, has recorded a introductory speech, which will begin the proceedings, and actors who appeared in the 1969 film will each read their own stories.
There will then be a book signing followed by a screening of the film.
Graham Ibbeson is also set to unveil his latest artwork - which has been kept a secret - and Ronnie describes it as his best ever work.
He added: “I was motivated to create this book last July when I was diagnosed with three cancers and I couldn’t think of doing anything more fulfilling than honouring my former teachers - Barry Hines and Brian Glover - and my hero, Ken Loach.
“I can’t say much about Graham’s work but it’s amazing - I’d say it’s his best.”
Tickets can be bought on the Parkway Cinema website and doors open at 2pm.
