Matthew Nordon, 38, of First Avenue, has played for Notton Cricket Club for 23 years and is offering to cut grass to boost funds.

Matthew said: "We needed to raise money for the club and I thought that this would be something a bit different.

"It can be difficult to raise money but I enjoy gardening and have a lot of free time at the moment so I thought, 'why not?'"

Matthew works as a volunteer caretaker at Churchfield Primary, Cudworth, and is also the groundsman at Notton cricket club.

"I've got a proper sit-down petrol lawnmower so I'm hoping to raise a lot of money," he added.

As well as raising money, the cricket club is looking for new players for the first and second teams.
