THE Chronicle understands that Callum Simpson is in line to defend his super-middleweight titles before Christmas with Troy Williamson the likely opponent.
Barnsley’s fighting hero, who recently turned 29, currently holds the British, Commonwealth and European crowns.
He added the latter to his collection with a stoppage over Italian Ivan Zucco at a packed Oakwell back in June.
Now he is honing on a first defence with that likely to take place on December 20 on a bill televised by the BBC.
Simpson’s promotional stable Boxxer have recently sealed a rare terrestrial TV deal and the Barnsley man would be one of the first fighters to headline a bill as part of the new arrangement.
It is also likely that Simpson’s British and Commonwealth belts would be up for grabs.
Williamson, from Darlington, has been regularly mooted as a potential opponent in recent weeks.
He has a solid professional record of 21 wins, four losses and a draw.
After three points losses on the bounce he returned to winning ways in September with a TKO win over Mark Dickinson which secured him the English title.
