A LOCAL weight loss consultant’s achievements have been celebrated.

Sonja I’Anson, a Barnsley Slimming World Consultant, has been presented with a Community Impact Award.

Sonja, who runs sessions at the Shaw Lane Sports Club, received the award at a ceremony at the company’s Derbyshire Head Office.

Her Slimming World journey began after Sonja decided she wanted to have a baby - and undertook a difficult seven-and-a-half stones weight loss transformation.

After her successful weight loss, Sonja made the transition into becoming a consultant eight years ago.

The role fulfils Sonja’s lifelong goal of helping others, assisting hundreds of members in reaching their target weights.

Sonja also achieved the prestigious Gold Award in October last year.

This acknowledges Sonja’s hard work in going above and beyond to support her members.

She said: “Attending this event is an achievement for everyone in my groups, they’ve reached for the stars with their weight losses.

“It’s so special running my own Slimming World groups and supporting my members with their weight loss.

“Seeing them reach each milestone and celebrating with them is the most incredible feeling.

“I truly believe I have the best role in the world and this award makes it even more special.”
