LOCAL MP Marie Tidball has been named The Spectator’s Parliamentarian of the Year.

Marie has represented the Penistone and Stocksbridge constituency since 2024.

She says she was ‘utterly blown away’ to receive the prestigious award.

She added: “It is the privilege of my life to represent our communities across Penistone and Stocksbridge in Parliament.

“I’m so proud to be the first person in 100 years to have grown up in our constituency to go on to represent it as our MP.

“I only got here because I am a product of the British dream.

“My NHS care in Barnsley Hospital, and local state education in Penistone, meant that I was able to go onto fulfil my ambition.

“I promise I will continue to fight for the values my community taught me growing up - fairness, equality, community - and to put them at the heart of everything I do in Parliament.”
