A NUMBER of Barnsley artists are set to take part in South Yorkshire’s biggest-ever public art event next summer.

In total, there will be 150 lions on display across the county to celebrate 150 years of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

This trail aims to raise £2.8m for the hospital’s charity and Barnsley artists Josephine Dellow and Rune Dali Burke will work alongside huge names such as Pete McKee for the Pride of Yorkshire art trail.

Barugh Green Primary School, Penistone Grammar School and Kirk Balk Academy have already signed up to support the trail - and there’s hope there’ll be plenty more.

Josephine said: “The opportunity for my artwork to play a role in raising funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital feels incredibly meaningful.

“I’m excited to create something imaginative that sparks joy and people connect with, while knowing that my artwork will feed into real support for kids and families going through a tough time.

“It feels like a beautiful way to share my creativity with the people of Yorkshire.

“I spend most of my time working alone in my studio, so seeing my artwork out on the trail, being part of this colourful collection across Yorkshire, will be really special.”
