A PENSIONER who is accused of murdering a man who went missing six years ago has also been charged with owning an arsenal of unlicensed firearms.
Christopher Wright, of Sheffield Road, Hoyland, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday in relation to the murder of Richard Dyson and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.
Mr Dyson, 55, had not been seen since November 17, 2019 and despite previous enquiries, the police were never able to locate him.
However, his remains were found in a property on Broadcarr Road in Hoyland earlier this year.
A post-mortem examination later confirmed he died as a result of shotgun wounds, South Yorkshire Police said.
Mr Wright was charged with 27 firearm-related offences, including owning 13 guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
A plea and case management hearing is due to take place on January, 23 the court was told.
