NCEL Division One leaders Dearne and District’s run of 11 successive victories ended on Saturday with defeat.

They went down 4-2 at Wakefield, another top five side.

Jack Harrison replied but Wakefield scored an immediate fourth.

Dearne are six points clear in the only automatic promotion place but the two teams below them have three games in hand so will overtake them if they win them all.

He said: “Losing at Wakey is disappointing but if you’re not 100 per cent and you come up against quality team who take chances, it can happen. Credit to them.

“We’ve been on a fantastic run and I told the lads not to get too high when we were winning and now not to get too low about this defeat.
