PROSECUTORS have been granted more time to interview and review evidence provided by a Barnsley man who was charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision after six people died last summer.
Shane Roller, 33, Shannen Morgan, 30, nine-year-old Rubie Morgan-Roller and Lillie Morgan-Roller, four, were travelling in a Ford Focus.
Christopher Barton, 56, and Janine Barton, 48, were travelling on a BMW S1000 XR motorbike.
The incident took place on July 21, 2024 at around 4pm on the A61 between Barnsley and Wakefield.
Christopher Cockell, 49, of Gresford Close, Woolley Grange, was charged with failing to stop.
He was scheduled to enter a plea at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) received permission for an extension to allow for ‘further interview and review’.
Mr Cockell will now appear at the same court on February 26.
