MEMORIAL trees in Elsecar Park have been replaced after they were vandalised earlier this year.
Hoyland Milton councillors Robin Franklin, Tim Shepherd and Mick Stowe were at the site this week to see the replacement.
They welcomed the replacement and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting and enhancing local green spaces.
The trees, funded by Barnsley Council’s Environmental Fund, stand as a tribute to local residents who have passed away and form an important part of the park’s heritage and community spirit.
Coun Shepherd said: “These trees are more than just part of the landscape - they are living memorials to cherished members of our community.
“We are pleased to see them restored, and grateful that Barnsley Council’s Environmental Fund has enabled us to honour those we have lost.”
