WALKERS now have a new place to sit thanks to Barnsley Council’s Love Where You Live scheme.
The seat, near Nelson Avenue and Burton Bank Road in Monk Bretton, was selected as a community enhancement project by Central ward councillors as part of the borough-wide investment in communities.
This path is on a steep, uneven incline and is often used by older people.
It’s part of a package of community enhancement projects aimed at improving facilities and the street scene around the town as part of Love Where You Live, Barnsley Council’s initiative to build pride in neighbourhoods.
Councillor Wendy Cain, cabinet spokesperson for public health and communities, said: “Love Where You Live is all about championing the people, places and projects that make us proud to call Barnsley our home.
“Projects being brought forward under Love Where You Live aim to make a positive difference in every ward.
“I’m pleased we were able to fund this new bench in Monk Bretton and hope people enjoy taking a rest on it and admiring the view.”
