A YOUNG Barnsley DJ who’s already played gigs in Ibiza has signed his first record deal - and he’s set to release his latest single on New Year’s Eve.

Harry Bonell, 14, from Higham, goes by the stage name Harry Tempo and he’s causing quite the stir on the scene.

The Darton High School pupil has amassed thousands of followers on Instagram and recently signed his first deal with Audio Wave Records International - something his dad Chris said he was incredibly proud of.

After being shortlisted in this year’s Young Champions Awards, it’s been a very busy year for the teenager.

Chris told the Chronicle: “He obviously didn’t win at Young Champions but that was great.

“Following that he went to Ibiza in August.

“He did Bam Bu Ku which he’d already done before and then Wi-Ki-Woo Hotel which is quite a big thing.

“He met the Ibiza Final Boss because he was staying there and he ended up playing in Itaca as well.

“He came back and then started focusing on his music production again which he was doing before anyway.

“From there he started submitting his tracks to loads of record labels.

“He’s now signed a 12-month contract with Audio Wave Records International which means that any music he produces goes straight to him.”

And his first single - Can We Go Fast? - has already been picked up and is due to be released on New Year’s Eve.

“The record label decide whether it’s going to be released or not and he’s submitted another track that he thinks is absolutely brilliant,” he added.

“He’s also been asked to send them music then for some potential collaborations which could be with some famous artists and things like that.

“The record label has already said they’ll be trying to get him gigs around the world, in places like Amsterdam and things like that.

“It’s looking up for him.

“He’s absolutely buzzing.

“Harry as a person is not very ‘showy’ at all so he’s taking it in his stride which I think is good for something his age.”

Despite being only 14, Harry has high sights set on doing this for the rest of his life - and Chris says there’s no reason he won’t be able to.

And he has one simple goal - to make people dance all over the world.

He added: “He’s got loads of time which is a good thing.

“The biggest thing of it all is that he absolutely loves music.

“It’s about passion for him and so it’s not pressure.

“He’s loving doing it.

“He’ll just focus on getting to the top.”
