Last year she took up Super Mario Kart racing, this year its cheerleading at the age of 101.
Ada Poulson is celebrated her birthday on Friday with her daily glass of sherry at Rose Hill House, Dodworth.
The plucky resident enjoys a daily tipple before racing her sister Elsie Bilton on the Nintendo Wii.“She still thinks she’s 50,” said Elsie, who turns 97 next month.
“You wouldn’t believe she’s 101 to look at her. They look after us here and they’ll make sure I get to 100 too.”
Ada was born the second of six girls on Silver Street, Dodworth, in 1911 when George V was on the throne.When she was 19 she married Edward Poulson, who worked for Barnsley Co-op, at Dodworth Church.
They were married for 70 years and had a son Brian.The couple lived in Thurl-stone, Penistone, Staincross, and High Green before settling in Hoylandswaine.Carer Jodie Worstenholme said the sisters were two of the liveliest residents.
She said Ada still gets herself up, washed and dressed every day and enjoys reading and baking cakes.
“We’re having a big party with them today with family and friends at the home.“The sisters certainly keep us on our toes but it’s lovely having them here together.”
