Barnsley bravely went crashing out of the Capital One Cup with a second round 3-1 defeat at Swansea on Tuesday night.
The Reds matched their opponents for most of the tie but sloppy defensive errors gifted the home side the tie.
Danny Graham notched in the first half before Luke Moore netted after 59 minutes.
Stalwart Bobby Hassell pulled one back for the Reds with a header and the visitors pressed for an equaliser. Hassell rattled the bar from 25 yards and Chris Dagnall went close when one-on-one with 'keeper Gerhard Tremmel.
But Swansea sealed the clash with two minutes to spare when Stephen Dawson gifted Moore his brace.
Reds boss Keith Hill took courage in the performance despite the defeat.
He said: "There were some good performances out there tonight. Chris Dagnall and Bobby Hassell played well, as did Stephen Dawson and Tomasz Cywka. Scott Wiseman, as a central defender, is unbeatable for pace but he’s got to learn to mark bodies in the danger area.
