BARNSLEY’S streets were lit up by a motorbike light parade.
For their sixth annual parade, Andrew and June Self welcomed hundreds of enthusiastic bikers to the festive parade - which backs a worthy cause.
During the Covid-19 lockdown, disappointed parents took to Facebook, expressing how their child couldn’t meet Santa.
As avid motorbike riders, June suggested to her husband, Andrew, that they get dressed up as Mr and Mrs Claus - and biked around the town delivering presents.
The event supports Macmillan, with money being collected in donation buckets along the planned stops.
June said: “We posted it on Facebook asking other riders to put lights on their bike, get dressed up and ride round with us.
“In the first year there was 40 bikes and this year there was 256 bikes, it was unbelievable.
“We put the routes on Facebook and put a few stops in.
“I invite anyone who wants to come back for pie and peas.”
The couple have ridden motorbikes together since they met.
For the past two years, June has had to take a step back from a more active role - due to a loss of mobility resulted in her becoming a wheelchair user.
However, June still attends the parade every year, where people flock to the streets to see the special display.
She added: “The streets are just lined, the community is amazing how they’ve all wrapped up and come out with their kids, it’s incredible.”
