POLICE officers were tackling antisocial driving in Kendray between Christmas and the new year.
On Tuesday, officers from the motorcycle and rural crime time conducted a joint operation with the Kendray neighbourhood team.
A large portion of the green at Swanee Fields have been wrecked by antisocial drivers and it resulted in officers attempting to find the culprits.
Officers had seen a biker ‘taunting’ them outside Kendray Police Station earlier in the day and it led to a number of bikes being seized.
A spokesperson for the motorcycle and rural crime team said: “This damage was not isolated to the pitch with the rest of the green space looking like a race track.
“We spoke to multiple dog walkers who were sick of the constant issue with the bikes and their dangerous riding.
“I think it is the first time that I have ever pursued somebody with a passenger wearing a dressing gown.
“It was quite odd seeing its fluffy blueness, fluttering around in the breeze, out the back of the bike - very odd.
“I am not sure if the lad thought he was a superhero or something.
“After about 15 minutes of chasing it about, taking in the sights of Barnsley, our tactical unit got in behind it, for tactical contact, however it managed to slip through an A-frame at the last minute.
“Thankfully this hit social media very quickly which led to intelligence stating where the bikes were being kept and ridden to and from.”
