WITH very little sport happening in Barnsley due to the cold conditions, Oliver Rowland is due to race in warmer climes this week.
The 32-year-old from Penistone is the reigning Formula E champion and finished second in the opening race of the new season in São Paulo, Brazil last month.
He is now due to compete in Mexico City, with qualifying and the race on Saturday after practice on Friday.
Rowland said: “I can’t wait to be back racing in Mexico City this weekend as it’s always such a brilliant atmosphere around the event.
“My victory here in 2025 was one of the best of my career, the energy from the crowd was incredible.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how the removal of the chicane will affect the racing, hopefully there will be more overtaking.
“Taking 18 points from São Paulo was a positive but there are aspects to improve on, which will be the target for Mexico.
“The trend in the last three Formula E seasons has been the winner of this E-Prix goes on to claim the drivers’ title, so I’ll be aiming to repeat the success of season 11.”
After Mexico City, the series moves on to Miami at the end of this month then Saudi Arabia in mid-February.
There are 16 races in total.
